Ikuta Toma & Nakatani Miki light up Tokyo MIDTOWN

On November 15th, Ikuta Toma and Nakatani Miki, the two stars of the upcoming movie “Genji Monogatari Sennen no Nazo“, attended the Christmas illumination lighting ceremony event at Tokyo MIDTOWN.
The Christmas illumination used about 570,000 blue LED lights to decorate the Shibafu Hiroba (event square) which measures in at around 2000 square meters. Seeing the gorgeous illumination, Ikuta said, “Because of this situation, I almost asked Nakatani-san to go out with me.” Then Nakatani refused Ikuta’s confession saying, “You are asking that to the wrong person.” which made the audience laugh.
Ikuta who plays an outstanding handsome man named ”Hikaru Genji” in the movie, said, “I’m honored to be invited to the lighting ceremony. If ‘Hikaru Genji’ were to see this sight, he would be reminded of the one he loves“, and he continued, “There were dark news, such as the Tohoku earthquake this year, but the movie is as sparkling as the illumination. So please watch it.”
On the other hand, Nakatani who plays “Murasaki Shikibu”, said, “I would like everybody to watch the ‘Hikaru Genji’ who is sparkles as much as the illumination here, at the theaters. Please watch it with whoever is precious to you.” Nakatani also revealed that she often visits Tokyo MIDTOWN in private as she said, “I go to the lounge of the Ritz-Carlton hotel, and I often go to the MUJI here.”
“Genji Monogatari Sennen no Nazo” is scheduled to be released on December 10th. Watch the video from the event below!

Travel: Christmas illuminations light up by Toma Ikuta

Johnny’s actor Toma Ikuta and actress Miki Nakatani light up this year’s Christmas illuminations in Tokyo Midtown on November 15, reports The TV.
The two are co-stars in the upcoming film “源氏物語 千年の謎 (Genji-monogatari Sen-nen no Nazo)”, and last night opened up a Japanese fan acting as a switch to light up more than 570,000 LED lights, which make up the Starlight Garden, the six metre tall Christmas tree, and a giant Santa Claus boot ornament.
It has been reported this was the first time Ikuta had visited Tokyo Midtown’s Christmas illuminations, and the Johnny’s talent had looked excited to be there.
“Everything around just became so pretty, for a split moment I thought about asking Nakatani-san out (laughs),” Ikuta said before his co-star answered with, “you’re asking the wrong girl”.
Ikuta finished by saying what he thought the highlight of the illuminations are.
“I think these Christmas illuminations have been made to make each and every visitor feel special, and maybe even help them say that special something to the person they’re in love with,” he said.

"Ikuta Toma & Nakatani Miki appear at the world premiere event for “Genji Monogatar

On November 2nd, a world premiere event for the upcoming movie “Genji Monodatari Sennen no Nazo” (The Tales of Genji) was held at Heian Shrine in Kyoto. Ikuta Toma who plays “Hikaru Genji” and Nakatani Miki who plays “Murasaki Shikibu” were in attendance at the event. Ikuta and Nakatani appeared on a ox carriage which had a production cost of 30 million yen (around $384,000 USD), and Ikuta commented, “It wasn’t so comfortable…to be honest, but I felt tense while riding on the carriage.”
On the other hand, Nakatani who rode on an ox carriage for the first time, said, “Though you can’t see inside of the carriage from outside, I could see outside well from inside of the carriage, so it felt like I peeked into other people’s secrets. Also my heart was beating fast to think that I was on the carriage alone with the ‘Hikaru Genji’.”
On this day, the Outen-mon gate which is designated as a national important cultural property, was specially lighted up for the event, and both Ikuta and Nakatani prayed for the movie to be a big hit inside the inner shrine. Heian Shrine was built in 1895 to commemorate the 1,100th anniversary of the transfer of the capital to Heian-kyo (Kyoto), and the shrine is dedicated the 50th emperor Kanmu who moved the capital to Heian-kyo. It is well-known as the popular place for “Hatsumode (first shrine visit of New Year)”, and this is the first time for a premiere event for any movie to be held at the shrine.
After the premiere event, Ikuta and Nakatani visited three movie theaters in Kyoto city, with the director Tsuruhashi Yasuo, and made the stage greetings to the audience. Ikuta said at the stage greeting, “Since we stayed in Kyoto for a long time for filming, it feels like ‘I’m back.’” He continued, “I am glad to send ‘Genji Monogatari’, Japan’s pride, from Kyoto to the world. I hope people all over the world watch this, and reconfirm the beauty of Japan.”
Nakatani also said, “It may be the time for everybody’s patriotic feelings are growing, especially under these circumstances. I’m glad to be able to send the ‘Genji Monogatari’ like this. Watching this movie made me feel that I’m glad to be born in Japan from the bottom of my heart.”

about what it was like working with an A-list cast of actresses for
their upcoming movie at an event in Tokyo on November 7, reports The TV.
The stars turned out for the premiere event of “源氏物語 千年の謎
(Genji-monogatari Sen-nen no Nazu, The Tale of Genji: A One-thousand-year mystery)“.
The mystery movie switches between two stories: the story
about noblewoman Murasaki Shikibu who wrote “源氏物語 (A Tale of Genji)”,
which would later go on to become a literature masterpiece,
and the story she wrote about Hikaru Genji, the son of a Japanese emperor, played by Ikuta.
It has been reported the actresses in the movie had said Ikuta looked cool and beautiful at the same time while he was playing Hikaru Genji, a character described in the novel as the most handsome man in the world. Ikuta in turn talked about one of the challenges he had to overcome during filming as he played the world’s most sought after man.
“I was so nervous when we were shooting the scene where my character makes love to his mother-in-law, played by (Yoko) Maki-san. We finished filming around three in the morning, but part of me was still in character so one side of me was feeling really guilty for having done it, while the other side of me was still buzzing. I knew there was no way I would be able to go to sleep straight away if I went back to my hotel so I hung out with some of the production staff for a while before going home.”
Higashiyama, who had also played Hikaru Genji in a different production a number of years ago, said Ikuta’s Hikaru Genji was worth checking out.
“He’s very dirty, but in a good way. I think Toma is really good at getting women hooked onto him. I think he’s the best in our agency at expressing it too. No else but him could’ve done it!”
“源氏物語 千年の謎 (Genji-monogatari Sen-nen no Nazu, The Tale of Genji: A One-thousand-year mystery)” opens in Japan cinemas on December 10.

لقد قال أيضاً : " إنه قذر جداً لكن على نحو جيد ! أعتقد أن " توما " جيد في جذب
النساء إليه ! أعتقد أنه الأفضل في وكالتنا لإظهار ذلك أيضاً ! ولا يمكن لأحد آخر
غيره أن يفعل ذلك ! "

Higashiyama Noriyuki praises Ikuta Toma at “Genji Monogatari” event
On September 25th, Higashiyama Noriyuki, Ikuta Toma, Nakatani Miki, and Tabe Mikako attended an event for their movie, “Genji Monogatari -Sennen no Nazo-“, at Roppongi Hills Arena.
In 1991, Higashiyama played the role of ‘Hikaru Genji’ in the drama, “Genji Monogatari“. He praised Ikuta, who plays ‘Hikaru Genji’ in the movie, by saying, “I am a little bitter, but I am happy. I think this became the work that will represent Toma.” Then he commented on Ikuta’s purple attire with, “He is becoming a man who matches in ‘purple’. I am happy about that too.”
The movie is a history entertainment film that is based on Murasaki Shikibu’s “Genji Monogatari”. Set in the Heian Dynasty, it portrays the love stories of ‘Hikaru Genji’ and author Murasaki Shikibu at the same time.
While Higashiyama revealed, “At first, I honestly thought, ‘Oh, Toma is Hikaru Genji’,” but he was attracted to Ikuta’s ‘Hikaru Genji’ after watching the film. He smiled as he said, “Not only is this Toma’s representative work, it has become mine.” Meanwhile, Ikuta said, “I’m honored,” in response to his senpai’s compliments.
Nakatani, who plays the role of ‘Murasaki Shikibu’ commented, “When I saw Ikuta-san’s Hikaru Genji, it was as if he had a noble and beautiful aura since he was born. I will never forget that scene.” Meanwhile, Tabe, whose character falls in love with Hikaru Genji, expressed, “I’m very touched to meet Nakatani-san and Higashiyama-san, who I didn’t get to shoot with.”
In the movie, Higashiyama plays ‘Fujiwara no Michinaga’. “When I saw the script at the office, I thought, ‘Hikaru Genji at this age?’, but it turned out to be Toma,” he shared, then enthusiastically stated, “Michinaga has an image that is played by a older senpai, so it’s my turn to play that role. I will do my best to assist Toma.”
The cast appeared at the event, while walking down a purple carpet. Ikuta commented, “This was my first time walking down a carpet, so it became a good experience,” and shook hands with 1,000 women who gathered at the event.
“Genji Monogatari -Sennen no Nazo-” will hit theatres on December 10th.
